I like the dresser and think it would look great in a white lacquer, like you mentioned and your darling brass dog lamp can go on the top.

I'd go with either a nice, neutral white since there's a lot of color going on in the space, but if you'd really like some tone on the wall, Half Moon Crest is a great gray with a tint of blue.
